ICC Table Tennis Academy – Parental/Carer Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

This Code outlines the standards of behaviour expected of parents, carers and guardians whose children train or compete with ICC Table Tennis Academy. Our aim is to create a positive, safe, respectful environment where young athletes can thrive, enjoy their sport, develop skills and character, and represent the values of discipline, integrity, results and friendship.

2. Scope

This Code applies to all parents, carers and guardians of players at the Academy in all settings: training sessions, competitions, travel, social events, club premises, and online interactions (including social media) when referencing the Academy or its activities.

3. Our Expectations of Parents/Carers

• Support your child’s involvement for enjoyment and growth, not just results.
• Encourage effort, improvement and commitment.
• Respect coaches, officials, staff, volunteers, players and spectators.
• Ensure punctual attendance and readiness for sessions/events.
• Communicate relevant health/welfare information promptly.
• Allow coaches to coach without interference.
• Encourage responsibility and sportsmanship in your child.
• Avoid undue pressure or unrealistic expectations.
• Follow child-safety and welfare policies.
• Represent the Academy positively in person and online.

4. Behaviour That Will Not Be Tolerated

• Undermining or criticising coaches, officials, players or staff publicly.
• Bullying, harassment, intimidation or discrimination.
• Placing unrealistic expectations or excessive pressure on children.
• Coaching or criticising during sessions in conflict with coaches.
• Entering training areas without permission or disrupting sessions.
• Failing to provide accurate health/welfare information.
• Posting inappropriate or aggressive statements online.
• Bringing the Academy or sport into disrepute.

5. Breaches and Consequences

If a parent/carer breaches this Code, the Academy may take actions such as:

• Verbal or written warning.
• Meeting with a director.
• Temporary suspension of child’s privileges.
• Restricting parent/carer attendance.
• Termination of membership or exclusion.
• Referral to external authorities if misconduct involves welfare concerns.

6. Review

This Code will be reviewed at least every two years and updated as needed.
